Sandpiper is a 4 year old approx. 13.3hh rose gray Arabian/Haflinger cross mare who is just being started under saddle and will be very lightly used in lessons.  She is a sweet, smart, kind and has fantastic movement and jumping ability.  She is Birdie's daughter and has her mother's wonderful temperment, and has received excellent care and handling right from the start.  Her breeder has done a wonderful job with her and we are committed to continuing to help shape Piper into a successful sport pony.  She walks, trots, and canters under saddle and has been ridden and jumped by a 9 year old.  Very simple and uncomplicated pony.  Lunges well but does not need to be lunged before riding.  Not spooky, balanced walk and trot, canter can be a little quick but that is improving with every ride.  Picks up both leads cleanly and has offered a flying change too.  Currently beginning to canter small gymnastics and doing great.  No bad habits in the stall/barn, is handled, groomed, and tacked by children.  Barefoot sound.     

UPDATE: 11/15/09 -- Piper competed in her first dressage schooling show here at home and was in the 60% range for both Intro A and B.  We have also been taking advantage of this wonderful fall weather and have taken Piper on her first trail ride.  She was very well behaved (spooked slightly when birds flew at her head but recovered instantly).  Piper is also consistently jumping 2 foot, starting to school 2'6 with plenty of ability to go much higher.
