Our lesson program at Promise Land Farm; Program for Equine Partnership is very proud of our lesson horses.  All have been selected for their various abilities and talents.  They range from show ring veterans who can carry a rider through their first show experience to younger horses who are being trained by staff and advanced students.  Each of our horses has something to teach you.

Serenade is an 19 year old 15.1hh bay Quarter Horse cross gelding. He has been a successful hunter/jumper for the past 10 years including competing in 4 foot jumper classes.  He continues to love to jump and is very steady lesson horse. He is extremely willing to please and is very responsive to his rider’s aids; you have to be careful what you ask for because he will do exactly that.  Currently half leased to Kelly and Laura Adamovich.

Kessie is a 6 year old 13.3hh chestnut Sport Pony mare.  She is 1/2 Arabian, 1/4 Paint, and 1/4 Haflinger.  Besides her blonde good looks, Kessie's personality is just as stunning.  While she has been a walk/trot grand champion at shows, Kessie is still improving her abilities.  Currently leased to Meg Billy.  Watch for Meg and Kessie in the hunter ring in 2010

Birdie is 25 year old 13hh flea-bitten gray Arabian mare.  Birdie has done almost everything; from endurance riding to 4-H to hunter shows so she has plenty of knowledge to share with our riders.  Known in the arena as the "energizer bunny", she just keeps going.  But she will stand like a statue for grooming.  Birdie is also known around the barn as grandma, because she is in fact Kessie's grandmother.  Thank you to Kate McDermott for the loan of this fantastic pony.  We love her!  Currently available for half lease.

Butch is a 18 year old 16.3hh chestnut Quarter Horse gelding.  Butch is on loan from Marianna Schaffer and we are very grateful to have a horse of his talents and experience in our barn.  Butch has competed in and around Ohio and Kentucky at various 3 day events.  He is one of the kindest horses you will ever meet, super steady and fun to ride.  Currently half leased to Maddie Morris.  Congratulations Maddie and family on your purchase of Butch!

Diesel is a 17 year old 17hh bay Appendix gelding.  Diesel has been a rehab project, he was completely lame with various foot problems such as thrush and several abcesses when he came into our program in January 2008.  Despite an old tendon injury, thanks to great veterinary and farrier care he is sound and back under saddle.  While his show experience has been more in the western show ring, he is proving very versatile and enjoying his new career as an English horse.  He also loves to trail ride.  Diesel is continuing to enjoy his new career, showing in dressage shows and mini trials - he is thrilled with the new challenges that cross-country jumping provides and tries his best to take excellent care of his riders.  Currently half leaased to Gretchen Hill

Misty is a 10 year old 13.2hh red roan Sport Pony.  Misty will steal your heart with her delicate build and sweet personality.   Her athletic ability is outstanding, she loves to jump and canter and is a fun ride for all levels.  She just started showing with our team in summer 2008 and now this season brought home Reserve Champion honors in the 18inch Green Rider Division in June 2009.  Look for Misty also at the Mini Trials this year!  While Misty is learning to slow down and be a fantasitc hunter pony, we're looking forward to seeing her shine even more in the jumper ring.
Currently half leased to Christina Boehm.

Jack is back!  Due to need of another lesson horse, we have brought Jack back into our program.  Jack is an 8 year old Haflinger gelding, about 15hh high.  While we're not sure Jack enjoys the work load that comes with being a lesson horse, he is a fun, good natured boy.  He does basic dressage, jumps (currently 2ft), working on putting jumps together and improving his canter.

Wink is a 30 year old bay Thoroughbred gelding that occasionally steps into ground lessons or camp projects.  He was Shellie's personal horse and had to be completely retired from riding due to a neck problem that causes him to fall down.  But Wink is still as energetic as ever and enjoys people and treats.  He can still be lunged, will even ground drive a little, and is super about being clipped, wrapped or putting up with what ever horse care skill a student might need to learn or practice.

Piper is a 4 year old 13.3hh rose gray Arabian/Haflinger cross mare who is just being started under saddle and will be very  lightly used in lessons.  She is a sweet, smart, kind and has fantastic movement and jumping ability.  She is Birdie's daughter and has her mother's wonderful temperment, and has received excellent care and handling right from the start.  Her breeder has done a wonderful job with her and we are committed to continuing to help shape Piper into a successful sport pony.  Expect to see her in the show ring in Fall 2009.  Piper will become available for lease and possible sale as her training progresses.  Contact Shellie if you are interested.  Thanks go to Meg Billy for all her work with Piper!
